Okay so the only resolutions it's showing me are ones that end up looking extremely squished on a widescreen monitor. Plus it's not showing me 1440x900... the highest I see is 1280x1024 - I am currently using 1280x960... I would love to be at 1440x900.
So attached is my Displaylink file. :)

Can you zip and post the contents of the /Library/Application Support/DisplayLink directory - dl.log should show the 1440 resolution otherwise the monitor does not say it's supporting that resolution.

Here we go!!
Yeha I know this monitor supports it because I used to run it at 1600x1050 (or whatever that one is).
Thanks,
Shawn

Hello Shawn,
yes, the monitor clearly states it in the EDID modes. For some reason the driver keeps the max to 1280x1024 even thought the logs clearly state it's an Alex chip.
Can you disconnect the monitor and then plug it in and send me the dl log ?
Will investigate - Patrick aka Jolly

Do you know that you have a device that supports the 1600 resolution ? The cheaper devices out there only support 1280x1024 !

Hi Shawn
Can you confirm what DisplayLink enabled product you are using? As Patrick has mentioned some products containing a DL-120/125 will only support upto 1280x1024.
Thanks

I have the EVGA UV Plus+ UV-12 which supports up to 1440x1050 (i would want 1440x900).
I don't want it to be at 1680x1050 - I'm simply saying I KNOW my monitor can support a higher res than what is being allowed right now.
And my Displaylink enabled device can support, like I said above, 1440x900.
Essentially, it's not showing any of the 'right' resolutions. Nothing is correct because they are all showing up squished.
Thank you,
Shawn

Hello Shawn,
I've taken a look and it seems your monitor does not support the 1440 resolution:
Modes: EDID: monitor SAM021E (SyncMaster) modes: 640x480@59.9405, 640x480@67.2311, 640x480@72.8088, 640x480@75, 720x400@70.0866, 800x600@56.25, 800x600@60.3165, 800x600@75, 800x600@72.1876, 832x624@74.8364, 1024x768@60.0038, 1024x768@70.0694, 1024x768@75.0286, 1152x864@75, 1152x870@74.8591, 1280x960@60, 1280x1024@60.0197, 1280x1024@75.0247, 1680x1050@59.9543
I think there is not much we can do about that right now. If the monitor says it's not supporting the resolution ;-(

Hi Patrick,
Wow, you are correct it doesn't support 1440.
However, i plugged it into my laptop DVI port and checked and it DOES support 1280x800 or 1360x840. My monitor is actually the 16:10 variety.
I just don't get why this won't show the resolutions that would actually suit the monitor - instead the only resolutions showing are looking squished.
