Reliability issues
 

Hi,
I don't know if anyone can shed some light on this but I am using the display link usb video adapters to add a second screen to around 7 different pcs.

Quite regularly now I will have someone tell me that when they went to use their pc the second screen is blank. When I take a look at the adapter the light is off. I can try rebooting the computer, changing USB port, unplugging and replugging but nothing fixes it with the immediate adapter that has failed.

However, if I remove the adapter and plug in a spare I have it will work fine. The strange thing is that if the same thing happens the next day I am able to plug in the original adapter again and it works fine again. It's like a merry go round of USB adapters in my office. This is happening on a range of different computers running win10 or 8 but I just can't understand why it is happening.

Can anyone shed some light on this?
