Hold on to those alpha drivers -- they fix all sorts of problems

The "Release" drivers for Vista had a problem where the computer would re-arrange the displays after the system booted or came back from sleep.

The current beta drivers have a problem where the one or more (usually ALL) of the displays will show up black with only the cursor visible after coming out of sleep or screen-blanking screensaver -- even when the USB adapter is unplugged.

The Alpha drivers, on the other hand, are good as gold! A little slow, yes, but at least the computer actually works. Before "upgrading" to the beta drivers i never had any trouble at all, and now my computer is completely unusable. Good thing i didn't delete the alpha drivers installation!

The problem is probably the tray utility that does whatever useless things it does... The alpha driver doesn't use it and instead relies on Windows' built-in management facilities to manage the display.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to offer the option of NOT installing or using the management tool. I'm perfectly fine with managing the displaylink display the same way I manage all the other screens.
