Question regarding licensing and distribution of the corporate MSI

I work for a software company that creates software for system admins. I recently had a request to create a package bundled in our software that would silently install DisplayLink software and drivers.

I wanted to make sure that by applying for the corporate login to get the MSI that i was aloud to use the MSI in this way since it's not technically for internal use. I wasn't sure if i need to contact anyone else in the company to request for use of the MSI in this type of case.

Any information would be helpful, thanks

Hi Nate,
I need to check with our legal team.
Would you please be able to indicate what you're packaging it with?
We have a redistribution agreement, but not usually with bundling...
You cannot just use the MSI from the corporate section because it doesn't have the EULA to allow silent install and the EULA is served to you beforehand.
When I know a bit more about the use case, I'll be able to get back to you.
Kind regards,
Alban

It would be in a package by it's self. Our software is made to make silent installation easier. A package is simply the install software combined with parameters for that package and any other steps a user wants to add, it's basicly an interface for scripts or batch files. The package would contain the MSI it's self and it will have basic parameters. Below is a link showing what a basic MSI package looks like.

We have a EULA our users accept that basically says that you agree to the EULA of the specific software and packages you use.

Thanks,

Thank you for these Nate,
I understand better and passed this on.
One question left that will most likely pop-up. At which point the system admin gets the package EULA? I mean if you are repackaging it to be silent, it won't be at the installation... But because it's not downloaded from our site, they don't get it either at download. I'm trying to understand how the sysadmin knows what he's agreeing to.
Have a nice weekend,
Alban

The EULA is a one time acceptance when you first use/install the software. You can find our EULA below.

Hi Nate,

Can I send you an email to discuss the details?
We need that to draft the agreement.

Kind regards,
Alban
