Complete Failure
Here's my configuration:
Sony VPC-Z1190X laptop: nVidia 330M Intel Sony-proprietary auto switching facility Windows 7 Professional, 64-bits Configuration 1: HP 24" 1920X1200 direct connect to laptop 2x Gateway 24" 1920X1200 via Winstars devices (WS-UGA19D1) Connected directly into Sony docking station Configuration 2: Samsung 21" 1920X1080 direct connect to laptop 3x Samsung 21" 1920X1080 via Winstars devices (WS-UGA19D1) Connected into powered 7-port hub connected into Sony docking station Here's the scenario: Configuration 1 always works from a fresh reboot. Configuration 2 has worked in the past but required fiddling with the USB connections such as unplugging/replugging/rebooting. Today, however, I can no longer get the screens to operate at all. The drivers are seen by Windows, but not the screens. Nor are the LEDs on the adapters blinking. A complete washout. I have uninstalled the drivers (and deleted the files), reinstalled, etc. nothing working. I've spent all morning on this and am about to give up altogether. I will be forced to install a desktop machine for configuration 2 and just drive the monitors with actual video cards. Any suggestions before I have to abandon all of this??? Thx, Bob |
Followup:
It turns out that when I said that I uninstalled/reinstalled the driver, I did so from within Device Manager. I specifically told it to delete the driver files themselves as well. Then I decided to try from the Control Panel (Programs and Features). That actually worked. After reinstalling and a couple of reboots (black screens, etc.), it now seems to be working. |
