DisplayLink Does not Detect Displays (IOmega)

1 Attachment(s)
I used my display link when I first bought it, a few months ago, but then stopped using it. (I had to use my extra monitor for other things)

I'm trying to use it now, and it does not seem to work. I've upgraded to the new driver, but, my monitor does not come on.

I'm attaching the output from the debug tool -- please help me!

Any ideas? I've repaired permissions and re-installed the driver, but nothing :(

OH -- I do get this in dmesg:

USBF: 7306.487 IOUSBCompositeDriver[0x110be300](IOGEAR External DVI) SetConfiguration (1) returned 0xe00002ed
USBF: 7410.318 [0xc183a00] The IOUSBFamily is having trouble enumerating a USB device that has been plugged in. It will keep retrying. (Port 1 of Hub at 0x24000000)
USBF: 7411. 54 [0xc183a00] The IOUSBFamily has successfully enumerated the device.
USBF: 7411. 69 IOUSBCompositeDriver[0xec42000](IOGEAR External DVI) SetConfiguration (1) returned 0xe00002ed

Nevermind -- I figured it out. The monitor is too large (and it's wide screen) for DisplayLink. That must be why I originally stopped using it. Back to ScreenRecycler.

So, I bought the Kinsington Universal Multi-Display adapter, and tried it -- still no monitor detected.

It's supposed to support up to 2048x1152, so, my 1900x1200 should work fine, but it doesn't -- any ideas?

I get this when I plug it in:

Code:

USBF:        405.443        [0xc288e00] The IOUSBFamily is having trouble enumerating a USB device that has been plugged in.  It will keep retrying.  (Port 2 of Hub at 0x26000000)
USBF:        406.184        [0xc288e00] The IOUSBFamily has successfully enumerated the device.

Ideas?

Could this be an incompatibility with my particular monitor? I'm using an Acer B243W.

I think I found it. When I connect the device, I see this in system.log:

Code:

Oct 14 16:41:15 daves-mbp detectpen[356]: PenDeviceAdded
Oct 14 16:41:15 daves-mbp detectpen[356]: deviceFound, iterating

Oct 14 16:41:15 daves-mbp pcscd[5280]: Non-smartcard device launched pcscd [Vendor: 0X17E9, Product: 0X36]

I think that my livescribe drivers are incorrectly grabbing your device!

Any suggestions?

So, after disabling that device, it seems more likely that the USB devices are enumerated, and, for some reason, display link never grabs the device.

I could really use some assistance. I now have two non-working display links.

I noticed the same thing with mine: http://www.displaylink.org/forum/showthread.php?t=365 I don't get how to repair enumerated usb cables.

I'm not sure how that thread has anything to do with my issue. I don't have ghosting displays -- my displaylink adapter(s) will not detect my display (Acer B243W)
