Unable to install 1.2 on Ubuntu 16.04
Despite rebooting many times, all I get is this:
Code:
Verifying archive integrity... All good. |
Have you uninstalled the previous version with
Code:
sudo displaylink-installer uninstall Cheers, Michal |

How did it fail? > still won't fix anything Attach logs so we know what we're dealing with (so far we don't even know what you're connecting). http://support.displaylink.com/knowl...to-displaylink Cheers, Michal |
I've had enough and I've now banned DNB. If John can't behave professionally on a public forum, I don't have to tolerate that either! Nobody is paid to be insulted.

Hi,
Sorry, I did not check this post. I open a new one since I still have the problem: I was trying to reinstall the driver on my system after a distribution upgrade (ubuntu 15.10 -> 16.04.1). I have the following WARNING and I guess I am stuck with the previous instalation: DisplayLink$ sudo ./displaylink-driver-1.2.58.run [sudo] password for ------: Verifying archive integrity... All good. Uncompressing DisplayLink Linux Driver 1.2.58 100% DisplayLink Linux Software 1.2.58 install script called: install Distribution discovered: Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS WARNING: Version 1.0.68 of EVDI kernel module is already running. Please reboot before attempting to re-install DisplayLink Linux Software. Installation terminated. Any idea on how I can remove the previous version? I tried to use the uninstall provided by this version, but it keep stating the same message. Note: I did not uninstall the previous version with sudo displaylink-installer uninstall I don't have the file anywhere since I did the uninstall... Thanks in advance |
It seems that I was able to fix this myself.
I used the previous version available to perform the uninstall: sudo ./displaylink-driver-1.0.335.run uninstall Then reboot and install the latest version. sudo ./displaylink-driver-1.2.58.run So far so good. |
sudo displaylink-installer uninstall
The command "sudo displaylink-installer uninstall" worked to enable installation. You should put it into the installation script with a prompt y/n
