Magic Trackpad and Magic Mouse are stuck to screen edges.
When attaching a USB Mouse, that can be used without issues.

Screen performance much lower than in previous releases (1.6 on SL 10.6.8).

Unplug the Monitor from the Power connection and replug fix the problem :).
So After every reboot it must replugin the Power Cable, its ok for the Beta :-)

Rotation of display
 

I do not have the controls to rotate display, if I hold down command-option I can get the rotate options but they do nothing.

Only bug I have encountered, but I do use the display on the displaylink rotated. But nice to to a driver before the release of Lion. Thanks guys-but do fix the rotation.

After a reboot I have rotation controls and can use monitor as needed. So far no issues other than having to reboot. THANKS !!!!

I am using Lion GM as well. Beta 2 of the driver installs just fine and enables me to connect the USB monitor and use it. However, after installation, dragging operations do not cancel correctly anymore. (Ex: moving icons around the desktop; the initial drag works, but once the mouse button is release, the icon still sticks to the mouse pointer and can only be released via Esc+click.

Another issue I experienced is that firefox 5 can no longer display websites. The sites load just fine and you can potentially control it, but it just does not display anything besides the header anymore. Safari works fine, but here also the download popup does not show any items on it, even when there is something being downloaded.

I just reinstalled Lion GM to confirm that this is because of the display driver and yes it is. Any update for this would be very much appreciated.

Wow, I got excited about the rotation issue, but now it's disappointing to hear about the other two bugs.

Firefox 5 is my main browser so having no content in is critical. Just wondering why would a display driver affect browser though, which seems weird.

At the moment we are not able to reproduce the issue on Firefox 5. Could you please check if the "Use hardware acceleration when available" option is enabled (in Firefox preferences, Advanced tab) and in case test the browser disabling this option. My suspect is that on some machine Firefox is erroneously trying to use some sort of acceleration on the DisplayLink card.

As for the dragging icon issue, could you please use the debug tool http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=269 and post the output. Are you using an Apple mouse or a standard USB mouse?

Thanks for the update. Unfortunately we are still trying to reproduce the Magic Trackpad/ Mouse issue. Are you using any special settings for these devices? Does the issue happen even if you use the mirror mode settings?

I managed to use Firefox 5.0 now without the Use Hardware Acceleration feature, but if possible, I would like to re-enable it in the future. The click/drag problem occurs with the Magic Trackpad AND any other HID device. I am using a Logitech MX500. If necessary I can screen capture the problem for you and put it on Youtube or so.

Thanks, for the debug information. Unfortunately we are still unable to reproduce the click/drag problem. It seems that your system acts as the drag lock option is active for your mouse. Does the problem disappear if you unplug the DisplayLink monitor? Does the issue happens if you reboot the machine without plugging in the DisplayLink monitor? Thanks

1.7b2 Bug: Dock uneditable and can't log in if autologin is turn off
 

I installed 1.7b2 on a machine running a GM of Lion. Immediately, after the restart I noticed the following things.

1. If I have autologin disabled then the system boots to the login screen but doesn't display any users. Basically, all I see is the gray wallpaper.

2. Once I enable autologin, the restart is gets me into my desktop. From there the dock is non-editable. For instance, try to drag an app into the dock. You cannot. You have to launch the app, right click on the icon in the dock, go to options, keep in dock. You also cannot remove an app, by dragging it out of the dock.

3. The system takes a lot longer to shut down and reboot.

Once I remove the driver, the system functions normally. The display hooked up to the displaylink adapter does work, but these performance issues make it hard to keep it installed and in use.

I also have the Firefox 5 issue where it doesn't show any content and only the header.

Also, with the DisplayLink driver installed, I can't play any videos using VLC or Quicktime. All I see is a blank window and I can hear the audio. If I uninstall the driver, the videos work correctly.

Same situation as above. However enabling autologin is not an option for me. So I booted into safe mode and uninstalled. Worked fine afterwards.

Can't wait for beta 3 :)

Ways to reproduce it:
MacBook Pro (fall 09), fresh Lion GM install, fresh beta2 driver install. Without attaching the monitor nor attaching a USB mouse, after the restart of os x the magic track pad has said bugged functionality. Very strange.

I can confirm the drag issue. I tried to drag an icon and the "release mouse button" never triggered.

Also, my earlier issue with no video playing with VLC/Quicktime was resolved if I use 9600M instead of the 9400M on my 2009 Macbook Pro. Firefox also works with the 9600M in use.

It seems that you are using the 9400M, could you please switch to the 9600M and check if the issues are still there? Thanks

The 9400M is part of a Macbook Pro. I can't switch to another video card.

so does it mean it's safe for the 2010 MacBookPro models that has the "auto-switching"?

I don't really wanna test it since this is my production machine, can't afford down time.

I have this issue but this didn't solve it, my monitor that is connected via MiniDisplay port has "rotation" preferences, but my monitor connected via usb (Arkview) to dvi to my samsung syncmaster 226bw doesn't allow me to rotate the monitor. I saw other people don't have this issue. I would like rotation of my monitor for text purposes because video is completely futile via USB monitors. I can't take screen shots of my usb connected monitor either so I can't show you what it looks like but basically has everything but the ability to Rotate the screen and to overscan.

Any help would be appreciated.

Your system profile reports that the system has a 9600m card beside to the 9400. In order to switch to the 9600m just disable the "automatic graphics switching" option in System Preferences - Energy Saver. Thanks

At the moment the only known issues with auto-switching enabled are related to hardware-accelerated rendering (like Firefox and VLC issue). It seems a sort of an erroneous shared context (we had a similar issue on 10.6.4, then fixed by Apple in a later release). No kernel panic or "unsafe" issue are reported.

Just another couple of checks for the dock issue, could you please run the following command in a Terminal and post the output:
ls -al ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist

The dock could be non-editable if the permissions on this file are set as read only for the user.
Could you also please check in the Accounts preferences if the Parental control is active (there is an option called "Allow User to Modify the Dock")?

I remember it took Apple a long time to fix the graphics issue last time, hopefully this is not the case this time.

After some testing, we are still not able to replicate some of the issues like the one involving a Magic Mouse/Trackpad and the one related to autologin and read-only dock. We are still working in trying to reproduce and fix all the issues.
Hopefully next driver version should have a more powerful logging mechanism that can enable us to have more important information about the driver behaviour from your feedback. Please continue to report any bug you encounter and thanks for your help in providing such valuable information.

I don't have the "automatic graphics switching" option in System Preferences - Energy Saver. I'm running GM of Lion. I have "automatically reduce brightness before display goes to sleep". Unchecking those options didn't enable the 9600m.

The user is an admin not under any sort of parental control.

In System Preferences - Energy Saver click on "Graphics: higher performance" at the top of the window. It will log you out and login again. This will enable the 9600M.

Same experience with Higher Graphics Performance turned on, as without it turned on. Dock becomes uneditable, and I cannot see the login screen when I turn off automatic login. I just see the grey wall paper.

To get back to my system, I once again had to boot into safe mode and uninstall the driver.

MacBook Pro 17" 2010 NVidia GT 330M

No major problems so far. Even the long-standing copy and paste is fixed.

But:

1. Still no energy-savings on Display Link monitor :(

2. Renders useless the "Play Speed" function of "Movist" media player App on Mac.

I have a bit of a major bug with my Kensington adaptor. I am running Lion GM on my iMac 27". I have a 27" Cinema display attached and a 24" Samsung monitor running in rotated 90 degree mode. When I sleep and attempt to resume, the primary iMac display is blank. The DisplayLink display and 27" Cinema Display both work. Any ideas?

No rotation option in my LG W2442 with 1.7b2 after installing Lion. Reboot didn't solve anything. I have a 27" iMac and this monitor is useless to me unless I can rotate it. Any advice?

Smoothness
 

+1 for the smoothness issues. Both my laptop display and the monitor that connected through the mini display port work great, but through the DisplayLink, noting is smooth. The mouse is quite jerky, animations are terribly jerky. Just an observation.

Installed Lion on 2008 MBP Unibody
1) Login disappeared (just shows gray screen)

2) Firefox hack worked by changing Graphics to "High Performance"

3) Dragging files is sticking icons to the cursor

4) Can't edit the dock

Are you getting close to a fix on these? I haven't seen a post since today's general Lion release.

Dragging operation replicated issues
 

I as well am experiencing that dragging operations do not cancel correctly. I first experienced this today immediately after upgrading. After un-installing and re-installing a few times, it was very clear the dragging issues were directly related to the driver. In attempt to get this working, and helping you debug, I made a Lion installation disk, booted from it, and preformed a clean install after completely wiping my HD.

After login on the clean system, I immediately installed the B2 drivers, and nothing else. I still experience the dragging issues, rendering the computer useless. I tried a few times to reboot w/ and w/o the monitor plugged-in, etc. As long as the driver is installed, I have these issues.

The first is related to not releasing an icon when dragging. The only way to release it is in esc+click, which puts the file right back where it started. The second area I've noticed this, is in trying to drag an icon out of the dock. The dock icons also do not release, unless you drop them on the top menu bar, and then they return to the dock.

I have attached the debug file to this msg. I am running a Macbook Pro with a duel link DVI adapter to a 30in Dell. I have the display link running a 24in Dell. I know your working hard on these issues, and really can't wait until they are resolved.

Deciding where to continue w/o the 3rd monitor, or revert back to snow leopard. Looking forward to your progress. Cheers!

Does not work at all
 

After upgrading to Lion and installing 1.7b2, second display is not detected at all and monitor indicates no signal. I have a newertech USB 2.0 to DVI adapter. Led on adapter blinks.

Also upgraded to Lion General Release. Also using 1.7b2 and the NewerTech USB/DVI Adaptor. All working fine so far with the exception of known issues already extensively highlighted. On late 2009 MacBook Pro with two 20 inch A1081 displays attached - one via the NewerTech and one via the DisplayPort. From postings looks like it is very setup sensitive... would help to know what yours is?

Tip to save you the trouble
 

the options are still there you just can't see them, try clicking in the center of the screen and typing your password then hit enter. if you have more then one account it'll be to the left of the center of the screen vertically centered. you can also look up where the icons usually are and click where you think it would be and type your password in.

Sorry you had to go through all that but at least you didn't erase your whole SSD/operating disk to put in a fresh install of Lion. If only I knew about these bugs sooner.
