Error message : Drivers not compatible with your device

Hello,
On windows XP (usb2 ports), I installed displaylink_7.6M2 driver to use asus MB169+ screen.
After driver installation, the screen perfectly works during the session. After pc reboot, the screen doesn't work any more. The error message appears :

MB169+
Your drivers are not compatible with your device
Update your drivers on website displaylink.com

Does somebody have an idea to solve the issue ?
Thanks.

Hello,

This is most likely because your device requires a higher version of the driver to work.
Manufacturers can choose a minimum version to go with their products based on the features they want, and components they also put in their products.

Logs will confirm/infirm that generic statement. The last link in my forum signature explains how to gather these. Then, you can upload the file here for analysis as only employees can download them.

Kind regards,
Alban

Bonjour,

Unfortunately, this particular product was made to work with v7.7 M0 onwards.
I looked and this is the case even for the eldest model of this line from Asustek.

Ce paramètre est inscrit dans une mémoire qui n'est pas reprogrammable par le pilote. Donc, ce n'est pas quelque chose que nous pouvons changer sur votre modèle particulier.

Kind regards,
Alban

Hello Alban,
I don't understand why just after the v7.6 driver was installed, the screen has perfectly worked for a session. It stopped working after the first reboot. If you have an answer, I can restore my system just before the driver installation and remake the operation. May be settings or files should be locked before the first reboot ?

Hello,

I wouldn't be able to explain exactly what happened in your case. Most likely the monitor will stop talking to the computer at the reboot.
The product wasn't conceived to work on Windows XP.
Asustek or DisplayLink would have never tried it on Windows XP as it is excluded from its specifications.

Now the OS has been obsolete for years, there is no hardware available anymore here.
That version of the driver was also abandonned as XP graphics subsystem is different than following OSes. This means the code is not maintained anymore as it was developped on previous version of development tools also made obsolete by their writers.

You may be able to restore the computer to the previous stage. However, we will not be able to guarantee that this device will ever work properly on that machine.
I don't see how this can be progressed unless you are looking at your own machine.

Kind regards,
Alban
