Duplicate screen option not working

I just received my Displaylink USB 2.0 to HDMI converter. Installed latest Windows 10 software but can't get a signal when I try to have my PC's screen duplicated on my TV monitor. I can extend and I can show all information on the TV alone with a darkened PC--just can't duplicate which is why I bought this device. I have a Lenovo 100s laptop.

In my control panel display window in Windows 10, I'm not even given the option to show both screens at once. I am allowed to choose this PC, Monitor or extend.

Please help.

Thanks,

-Jim

Hi Jim,

You may not have a primary graphics card driver (Intel/Nvidia/AMD) which supports cloning across graphics adapters. This was only introduced as compulsory from WDDM 2.0.
So graphics on platforms like Intel 4th generation graphics don't do it and Intel won't be issuing new driver capability for these as they have now issued the 7th generation.

There are some workarounds but ultimately, this is the responsibility of the graphics vendor to implement the Windows standard to support this. http://support.displaylink.com/knowl...rticles/938634 shows how, by using the Windows inboxed driver it works. Of course, the Windows inbox driver complies with the Windows standard requirements.

I don't understand the second part of the report. If you right click on the desktop and select display settings, you should see all displays currently connected there.

Kind regards,
Alban

No duplicate screen ability.

Thank you for your reply, Albon.

I don't think your concern that I might not have the
primary graphics card driver (Intel/Nvidia/AMD) which supports cloning across graphics adapters is warranted. Before my HDMI port stopped working, I was able to easily clone my PC with the monitor so I believe the driver is probably there.

I bought your device as a USB work-around. Considering that I probably do have the correct graphic card driver, do you have any other suggestion?

Thanks,

-Jim

Hello Jim,

The HDMI of the laptop is the same graphics adapter as the native display of the laptop.
Would you please give me the graphics driver details?

Kind regards,
Alban

Thank you,

Drivers from Intel starting with 10 are for WDDM 1.3.
Cloning across graphics adapters was only optional in WDDM 1.3 and was made compulsory in WDDM 2.0, the following version.

You can check what I am saying by uninstalling your Intel graphics driver.
It will use the Microsoft Basic Graphics adapter driver which is compliant, and will allow you to clone across graphics adapters.

Kind regards,
Alban
