This error message means that the digital signature cannot be validated.
We sign packages and refuse execution when not validated so packages can't be altered by malicious parties who can then redistribute the package with something else undesirable embedded.
On your case, I believe this is because your Windows 7 Embedded lacks the possibility to validate
SHA-256 hashes. Previous drivers were using SHA-1 hashing but, because it has been deprecated by many because someone once managed to do a collision, we have upgraded to using SHA-256 which is still believed fully secure, for now.
On full Windows,
KB3033929 is allowing to validate SHA-2.
I don't know of the necessary patch for Windows Embedded.
However, if you do find out, I am interested to know so I can add it to our
FAQ on the subject. Even if we are unable to officially support that OS, we are willing to make it easier for other people in your situation!
