Display Link Merlin-DVI USB Display
Hi all, I am having trouble using a Display Link Merlin-DVI USB Display Adapter. Can anyone assist?
I have been using it for the last year or two on WinXP with no problems. Recently we have been upgraded here to Win7, and since then I cannot get the adapter to run properly. It has installed ok, but every few minutes the display goes black, until I run the mouse across it, then it comes back in blocks. If I click in the black display it usually comes back all at once. This only lasts a minute or so until it goes off again. It now spends more time off than on! I have two monitors connected to the NVidia card and a third using the adapter. All running at 1280 x 1024 Merlin driver version: 6.3.38103.0 – 10/05/2012 Graphics: NVidia GeForce GT 620 – 8.17.13.142 - 15/05/2012 PC: Dell Vostro 470, Win7 Professional SP1, 64bit Intel® USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller: 1.05.235 - 21/05/2012 Any help would be great, Thanks in advance Martin |

Looks like you are running v6.3 M0 in a basic graphics theme on NVIDIA, which could have some issue.
Try switching to Aero graphics mode and updating to v6.3 M1, and this could solve the issues you are having. Wim |

Thanks for the reply, but I have already installed v6.3 M1. To be sure I downloaded again, but the when installing it just says "DisplayLink Software for DisplayLink Graphics is already up to date". I am also already running in Aero mode, with my own changing background images. I have now changed to the simple Windows 7 Aero theme, but the display connected to the adapter is still going off. Thanks Martin |

Any joy with the log files. The problem is still here. The display just goes black randomly every few minutes. I am going to have to scrap this display link adapter soon and try to get it working some other way. Thnaks Martin |

The logs don't show anything immediately.
I wonder if this is a USB 3.0 issue. Do you have a USB 2.0 port to try it on and see if you have the same issue? Thanks Wim |

It was already plugged into a USB2 port. I have now tried a USB3 port, but results are still the same. Thanks again for your help. I have now had to unplug this adapter as the problem is so bad it is unusable. Hopefully I can reconnect it if we find a solution. Martin |
