Default Thinkpad T42

Hi,

recently added a third monitor to my cheap setup. DisplayLink UGA 2.0 is driving this monitor. I'm running XP SP3, 2M ram, 1.6GHz Pentium M with docking. Display driver is ATI Raedon 7500 running Omega (3.8.360).

I find with 2 windows open the mouse lag/choppiness is considerable on the DisdplayLink UGA screen. I've set the priorities of VirtualDis, DisplayLinkUI and Useragent to either realtime/high, but still no ava.

Anyway to remove the lag? thx

The way to remove the lag is to have a more powerful PC. This just about meets the minimum specs:

It would be usable, but will probably have some lag.

Hi Wim,

I guessed as much. I'll put up with it a little while longer as this beat box is working for me quite nicely. But yes, I will pickup a quad-core or whatever maybe tomorrow and start preparing migration.

Have any recommended laptops in mind? thx.

P.S. won't the USB 2.0 be the limiting factor or is it the video card and the CPU/Ram? Mind you its acceptable but just not ideal.

Wim,

would a Mac PRO Quad Core 2.66Ghz Xeon, 16G Ram, 500G SATA HD with Geoforce 7300GT (256MB) work smoothly with the UGA 2.0 adapter?

Alternative is the Dell Precision 690 Quad Core 2.66GHz Xeon, 16G Ram, 500G SATA HD with NVIDIA Quadro 550.

thx
