Default What type of cpu is optimal

Hi

I have an Asus MB168B+ 1080p USB3 screen that I use for my ITX machine.

I have tested it plugged in to my main rig (2700k + 7950) and am able to game at 1080p with smooth framerates.

When I hook it up to my ITX machine (6400k + 7750), it is VERY choppy.

The GPU is more than capable, so I have discovered it is the CPU overhead from Displaylink that is causing the stutter, my 6400k just isn't powerful enough for 1080p compression.

So an upgrade is in order, but I don't know what type of processing power best benefits Displaylink.

My options are a quad-core 6800k, good for multithreaded cpu work
or
i3-3220, which is faster at single-threaded compute work.

Does anyone know which benefits Displaylink more, multi-threaded or raw speed single-threaded cpus?

Thanks
