Default USB Adaptor Not recognised - Not in Device Mgr

I have had a number of issues with the adaptor since I got it.....where it would stop working when disconnected...and then take an age to come back to life - anywhere between hours and weeks.

I found that the issue was my intel drivers....which could be solved by either updating them or moving to Windows 8 - as this would sort the drivers automatically.

Reason for the back story, is that it shows that it has worked via the USB input on this laptop and that my machine supports the device.

Anyhow - so my machine was completely wiped, a new SSD installed and a fresh installation of Windows 8.1 professional.

I installed the most recent drivers from the display link site, but I cant get it to work.

I have run through the debug but it's not worked.

I got as far as looking at the device manager - but there is no line item there for USB display adator.

I have run the debug tool, but it was saying that the device wasn't attached - which suggests that it's not being detected.

The service is running tho......

Am at a loss. I really want to get this working as I am missing the extra screen.....any help greatly appreciated.

Hi,

As soon as the issue is seen please attach the output of this tool:
http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=269
Once downloaded, please run it and select "Gather Support Information"

When you reply please select "Manage Attachments" from the "Additional Options" section below.

From there select Upload and navigate to the output of the tool which will be in a folder called "DisplayLink Support Files" on your desktop.

Thanks,
James
