Default USB 3.0 Dock

I recently purchased a Thinkpad 3/0 USB dock that uses displaylink. everything works fine, except my download speed when connected via the dock is 25%-30% slower than when connected directly to the computer.
I have driver 8.21629.0 (207-04-05) installed.

Hello,
I'd advise to check connection settings in properties.
What is the link theorical speed?
What speed do you get on your machine directly?
What speed do you get through the Lenovo dock?
How do you measure it?

We use point-to-point performance tests and also triple play tests for our releases... and so does Lenovo.

Kind regards,
Alban

What settings do you suggest I review?

Theoretical link speed is 1GB. With ethernet cable connected directly to laptop, download speed is approx. 800 MB/s, while when connected via the dock the download speed is approximately 625 MB/s.

I have tested it using both speedtest.net as well as my ISP's speed test.

thank-you for any suggestions.

Hello,

You could have a look at packet size for instance (MTU), so they match with your router.
We've done a series of tests last month with 8.2 M1 and we had 850-950 Mb/s on either direction. Tests were actually done on a Lenovo docking stations, not that has any impact here.

When we test, we don't go to external provider websites and do machine to machine to remove all the external variables from the tests: we just change one variable at a time.

Kind regards,
Alban
