Issues Getting Started
Hey all,
I just purchased my external video card and I'm having issues getting my mac to recognize my usb driver. When I ran the diagnostic test, this is what I received for the USB port of which I had my driver plugged into: USB Display Adapter: Product ID: 0x8060 Vendor ID: 0x17e9 (DisplayLink (UK) Ltd.) Version: 0.17 Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec Manufacturer: DisplayLink Location ID: xxxx Current Available (mA): 500 Current Required (mA): Unknown (Device has not been configured) I have Mountain Lion 10.9, with the newest beta 2.2 software. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it twice, as well as attempting to use version 2.1. I have tested both monitors through my thunderbolt. The only thing i could think of is that perhaps my computer wont recognize the usb driver because I have a DVI-VGA converter plugged into the HDMI-DVI converter (see attached image)? I know it sounds silly and trivial, of course that would work. But i'm starting to go insane attempting to figure out what is causing my problem. Thanks for your help! Ian |

A HDMI port doesn't output an analogue signal, so going HDMI->DVI->VGA won't work.
You will need a DisplayLink device that supports VGA, or does DVI-A with an adapter. Or connect it directly to your monitor via DVI (using adapter, or a HDMI->DVI cable) if your monitor has a DVI port. It's not clear to me from the diagnostic information if the device just isn't alive because there is no signal from a display, or it is broken/some other problem. |

PID 0x8060 is usually bad news, it indicates a hardware malfunction. Please read http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=324, if it persists with that PID then the manufacturer needs to give you a replacement. Not sure if the chain of adapters will work, it really depends on the specific product and adapters. Cheers, Carlo |
