Resolution disappeared!
I have the DisplayLink product by Newer Technology, USB to DVI/HDMI/VGA display adapter. My monitor, a Soyo Topaz S 24" monitor with 1920X1200 Native resolution, is connected to my Macbook Pro, Unibody 2.4Ghz Core2Duo, via the DisplayLink product.
It was working fine and displaying at the 1920X1200 resolution fine until today. I restarted by Macbook Pro and now, the maximum resolution on my 24" monitor is 1440x900. Just yesterday it was displaying 1920x1200 just fine. I thought the driver was the issue so I uninstalled the DisplayLink Driver and reinstalled it, twice. Both times, the resolution was still capped at 1440x900. I know for a fact that my monitors native resolution is 1920X1200 and that this product displayed it at 1920x1200 just fine until yesterday. So what's the problem? How can I force the displaylink product to display at 1920X1200? Current resolution's available are 0x0 0x0 (stretched) 640x480 800x600 1024x768 1280x720 1280x1024 1440x900 On a final note, my Main Monitor (i.e. the one with the dock displayed) is still my macbook pro's monitor. This 24" is my secondary monitor. |

If you are on Snow Leopard you can try deleting the following files:
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist /Users/YOURUSERNAME/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.preference.displays.SOMECODE.plist And rebooting. Also rebooting in safe mode (keeping shift pressed at startup) could help. |
