Default Monitor Arrangement Issue

I've had really good luck with my 2 display link adapters, but the monitor arrangement of OS X can sometimes get confused.

I have the following setup MacBook connected to a Dell Display VIA DVI.

DisplayLink Adapter1 connected to 1st Samsung 22" display.
DisplayLink Adapter2 connected to 2nd Samsung 22" display.

The two samsung displays are the exact same model.

The displays are arranged as follows, with the Dell in between the two samsung displays.

Samsung - Dell - Samsung - MacBook's Display

The DisplayLink Adapters are connected to a USB hub. When I connect the USB Hub to the MacBook there is a 50% chance the Samsung displays will be swapped in the arrangement.

Same problem here, but with three monitors (all Samsung Syncmaster 940UX) – two outer via DisplayLink USB, middle via digital.

I would say that 2 out of three times, when booting, the two outer monitors are swapped in the arrangement.

My guess would that it depends on the order that the USB devices are detected. When plugging in a usb hub or powering on the machine the order the operating system detects the devices would be effectively random.
