Default displaylink monitor freaks out once in a while!

I do not know how else to explain it.

Every so often the displaylink powered monitor loses all resolution and becomes completely unviewble. Thousands of lines pollute the screen reminiscent of old loading lines in the days of C64.

Eventually the screen returns. I thought that maybe it was because of other devices interfering on the USB bus but it occurs even when no other devices are connected via USB.

Details

displaylink version: 1.5b3
displaylink hardware: Lenovo USB-to-DVI Monitor Adapter
Model Name: iMac
Model Identifier: iMac8,1
Memory: 6 GB
System Version: Mac OS X 10.6.1 (10B504)
64-bit Kernel and Extensions: No
displaylink display make/model: Dell 2407WFPHC

Hello imoan,

are you connecting the monitor through a USB hub ? If so try connecting the monitor directly. Can you zip and post the contents of the /Library/Application Support/DisplayLink directory ?

Regards Patrick aka Jolly

Hi Jolly,
the monitor is connected directly to my mac.

Also there is no directory DisplayLink in either /Library or ~/Library. If that does not exist is there a problem?

There is however a crash report property list
~/Library//Application Support/CrashReporter/DisplayLinkUserAgent_BB8590A8-3FD4-51E5-BF3D-D3E293490028.plist

Hello imoan,

thanx for the info. Hmm if you do not have the directory something is weird. As some other user here reported that problem and the directory should be automatically be created we'll have a look on how that can happen.

Thanx Patrick aka Jolly
