Thumbs up Kensington sd200v Windows 7 - Unknown Device

I am having trouble getting these display drivers to work on either my laptop or my desktop under Windows 7 - 32bit. In both cases I get an 'Unknown device' in Device Manager and no new display adapter is listed. I have tried both the 5.5 and 5.6beta drivers with the same result. The laptop is a Dell D620 with Intel graphics. The Desktop has an integrated nVidia chipset. Neither system has a secondary monitor attached directly.

Any suggestions?

Please download the Windows DisplayLink debug tool from the website below, then gather the system information and upload the zip file to this thread.
(delete memory.dmp file if the zip file is too large to upload). This would give us more information as to what might be wrong.

Thanks

Was the device attached when gathering the log files? If not, please make sure the device is attached, gather the system info again and upload another zip file for analysis.

Thanks

Yes, the device was attached when gathering the log files. It was showing up in Device Manager as an Unknown Device. The USB audio devices were recognized and drivers were installed successfully, as well as the USB hub functionality. I can repeat the process tonight and upload again.

I tested the device successfully on another system, so I know it works. My goal is to use it with my desktop however, so your assistance is appreciated

I removed the software and reinstalled. After installation, I was initially able to see the desktop on my secondary monitor attached to the sd200v. After restarting the system however, it no longer works.

A notification message is displayed on-screen:

"One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."

Device Manager lists it as an 'Unknown Device'. I tried plugging into different ports, but the behavior is the same.

I have attached a new zip file.

The device still functions fine on my other system, so there is nothing wrong with the unit itself.

Thanks again

If the device cannot be found than this is a hardware issue. The log files shows a lot of USB errors and the software is unable to communicate with the device. You may try unplugging and re-plugging all the cables and see if that helps. If it doesn't than I'd contact the manufacturer for the replacemrent.

You stated that you're 'having trouble getting these display drivers to work on either my laptop or my desktop under Windows 7 - 32bit.'

and that 'The device still functions fine on my other system'. On what system does it funtion fine?

I picked up a PCI USB Host adapter for $12 and installed it in the desktop. The sd200v appears to work correctly now. I'm guessing the onboard USB controller is underpowered or flaky.
