Default Incompatible Display Driver

I was running a Virtual Box VM with Windows XP that successfully connected to the DisplayLink device as a monitor. Because I wanted to enable Direct 3D I changed the VM to use Win 7. With Win 7 I don't seem to be able to find a version of the driver that is reporting it is compatible.

All the software appears to install correctly but then when I connect the DisplayLink device I get an error message from the DisplayLink software (see screenshot). Also the DisplayLink taskbar icon appears to only be available when displaying this error message, it is not available before or after showing this message.

Is this a known issue?

Thanks,
Devan

I saw you ask for this (Windows DisplayLink debug tool output) in a similar post so I thought I could save you some time.

Thanks,
Devan

Hi devanl,

DisplayLink doesn't support vmware. Please refer to this FAQ for further info.

Would it matter that I'm not using VMware? I'm actually using VirtualBox because I like its support for USB and Direct3D more. Maybe I could get you to just let me try enabling it instead of having DisplayLink abort? Worst case I report back that it didn't work?

Thanks,
Devan

Unfortunately it wouldn't matter as they are both virtual machine software suites which we don't support.
