EVGA UV39 - Not Working - Bad Drivers Or USB Issue
Hello,
I am attempting to combine these 3 components: -Alienware m11x r3 -EVGA UV39 -Sceptre 50" Currently, I've had success with the evga uv39 on a dell insprion 11z and a studio 1749, while using the vga to tv feature. So I'm fairly certain my parts and cables are good. My issues becomes when connecting the evga to my alienware m11x. When I first purchased the evga, I connected it to my alienware via the usb 3.0 port. I then received a negative usb connection sound, indicating the device was not installed. I did not have a tv connected at this time. When I connect the evga to the usb 2.0 port, I do see it listed in device manager, but with the exclamation-yellow icon, listed under 'other devices'. I do have 7.4 version of displaylink software installed. My past experiences with these usb to vga adapters has been pretty good in the past. Normally just plug them in and watch the magic happen. But not this time I'm afraid. :-/ I've contacted EVGA support directly. I was escalated to higher level support, but we really couldn't hash out what the problem may be, past doing normal updates to bios, usb, video, etc. Which I've done to no avail. Just wanted to see if any one might have previous experience, either with the device itself or similar devices, or perhaps a like scenario as this. I'm leaning more toward something like the USB ports being stuck on stupid..? I recall in the past of having situations where ports would just refuse a usb device for what ever reason.. I just don't recall what the solutions may have been, other then trying a different port, which I'm kinda fresh out of. I have to start working for a start-up come october, was kinda hoping to just buy a bigger screen and roll out, but even the HDMI ports on the TV apparently fail me as well. I can only get 800by600 on ANY of my laptops listed above, otherwise it just says no signal. (whole other can of worms, I know) so I'm at least trying to focus my energy on working with this evga as my final solution. Let me know if you have any thoughts. Please and thank you. |

Hi,
Can you let me know what the error code is of the device that is showing the yellow exclamation mark in device manager? As soon as the issue is seen please attach the output of this tool: http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=269 Once downloaded, please run it and select "Gather Support Information" It's also worth trying the "System Compatibility Check" to see if anything is flagged up. Thanks, James |

I ran system compatibility check: It's flagging my usb controllers.. The link that the kb links to, for renesas drivers.. is.. correct? http://kb.displaylink.com/315 The drivers windows had were old, I updated to what dell recommended, they were old still. went to renesas and what version I have now is their latest. Working toward doing the: gather information step now. |

Okay I updated my drivers via the link in the KB. Re-ran the compatibility check and I've passed everything.
When I plugged the uv39 into my usb 3.0 port this time, it did make a positive usb sound, not a negative one. so maybe progress? But at this point I still have the driver in yellow. Here is the zip file created via the tool: Click for zip Let me know if I did it correctly. |

Hi,
Thanks for the info. Since posting have you rebooted the notebook? I ask as the last thing mentioned in the installer log is that a reboot is required. If that doesn't help, please run through these steps to help diagnose the issue: 1. Disconnect the adapter 2. Uninstall the DisplayLink software 3. Download and run the Cleaner tool from here: http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=297 4. Install 7.4 M0 from here: http://www.displaylink.com/support/downloads.php 5. Reconnect the adapter Thanks, James |

I followed the above steps flawlessly.. but still staring at 100-u3-uv39 in the other devices section with a yellow exclamation. :'( So frustrating this is. I have used displaylink software on this laptop before with earlier models of UV+'s. The laptop was factory new when I was using them. (feb 2012) I have done a clean install, maybe toward the end/beginning of 2012/2013. So IDK if this is still a missing driver issue, being that I've passed the support tool tests? It works on my other weaker laptops, on this TV, no problem. but why not THIS laptop?! #grr 7 days into owning the new tv now. Any thing else I could try? or am I really at the end? |
