Windows 8 no signal to monitor solved!

Hi all, I bought a ASUS N750JV Windows 8 and I've been all afternoon trying to make the USB 2.0 to DVI work.
The system deteceted the USB device but no signal was transmitted to the monitor. I did everything I found on the forum, several driver updates, etc. and nothing.
I had the idea to try to plug the adapter to a USB 4 port Hub and IT WORKED!
I have no explanation but it did.
