Default IOGear stops working iMac 10.7.3

I have a late 2009 iMac 12GB ram running 10.7.3 and have 2 monitors hooked to it one using mini displayport and the other an IOGear external DVI GUC2020DW6 running the 1.8 alpha drivers and have been using this since for a couple of years usually with a good experience. I do have a problem that is sparatic that it just stops working usually after sleeping or something and the fix has been to either unplug the usb cable wait 5 or 6 seconds and plug it back up or to power off wait 5 or 6 seconds and power on. The device is present in the USB tree when this happens and once I replaced the cable that came with it with a little better USB cable that's only about 1' long the problem started happening a lot less. Is there someway to have a script or something to restart the services or whatever so that I can run it before having to power off or mess with unplugging it? (It's called being lazy I know.)

One a different topic do you think color calibration will ever work?

Are there any firmware updates for the device? I think mine is at v1.2.

Thanks
Jason

Sorry for the late answer.
What happen if you kill the DisplayLinkManager process, when the DisplayLink screen appears to be stopped?
Try this in a Terminal:
sudo killall DisplayLinkManager

Thanks
