Installed, but now showing. nVidia main gpu ubuntu 16.10
Hi,
I have for some days now tried to get my HP 3005pr USB3.0 to work with my laptop. The laptop has a nvidia 1070 gpu and I have tried with both running nvidia nouveau and nvidia 378.13 drivers. I have attached my latest suppor tool zip. xrandr sees both devices: Code:
$ xrandr --listproviders Providers: number : 2 Provider 0: id: 0x1b9 cap: 0x1, Source Output crtcs: 4 outputs: 6 associated providers: 0 name:NVIDIA-0 Provider 1: id: 0x213 cap: 0x2, Sink Output crtcs: 1 outputs: 1 associated providers: 0 name:modesetting Code:
$ xrandr --setprovideroutputsource 1 0 $ xrandr --listproviders Providers: number : 3 Provider 0: id: 0x1b9 cap: 0x1, Source Output crtcs: 4 outputs: 6 associated providers: 1 name:NVIDIA-0 Provider 1: id: 0x213 cap: 0x2, Sink Output crtcs: 1 outputs: 1 associated providers: 1 name:modesetting Provider 2: id: 0x213 cap: 0x2, Sink Output crtcs: 1 outputs: 1 associated providers: 1 name:modesetting $ xrandr --setprovideroutputsource 2 0 $ xrandr --listproviders Providers: number : 3 Provider 0: id: 0x1b9 cap: 0x1, Source Output crtcs: 4 outputs: 6 associated providers: 1 name:NVIDIA-0 Provider 1: id: 0x213 cap: 0x2, Sink Output crtcs: 1 outputs: 1 associated providers: 1 name:modesetting Provider 2: id: 0x213 cap: 0x2, Sink Output crtcs: 1 outputs: 1 associated providers: 1 name:modesetting If I boot to windows10, all monitors starts ups, so the device itself works fine. Any tips to what I could try, or even better. Any pointers to get this to work |

Just a little follow up... I installed, Ubuntu 16.04.02 LTS on the same laptop, and then installed displaylink. Same results there.
(And a new lesson learned in recovering grub boot with efi and luks). |

Another follow up...
I strongly suspect the problem being some where between the chair and the keyboard... /var/log/displaylink have two edid files, and they match make/model of the two monitors that I try to bring to life via the displaylink adapter. Will fidle around abit... Still, if any could point me in the right direction.... Thank you in advance |

You just need to do the add providers once.
Then if you just run "xrandr", the output should appear named like "DVI-I-I" or something similar. Then you can just use xrandr, arandr or any other display tool to set it up. |

This brought up one of the displays, (the display port, the one via HDMI where black), but I now struggle with the 1 fps stuttering, and might be related... Compiz crached on me, resulting in a reboot. (restart of lightdm did not correct the error). One step closer though! |

Tagging this case as solved.
Still have some issues, but no longer in context with Title. Edit: Unable to change the main title to solved. |
