Default Beta or Release on the horizon?

1.8 alpha has remained in alpha for three months now....any plans to release at least a beta version with some more fixes soon?

While I would like to see some updates / bugfix.. I won't consider the software beta / release quality.

Looks like the official or at least an updated 1.8 driver was posted. I am actually running it on Mountain Lion GM and am having no issues whatsoever. Moving the cursor is much smoother than before on Lion, where it was barely usable. I can also run iTunes full screen and page through a list of cover art images with no lag.
