Thumbs down mission control performance

I'm using DisplayLink v2.4b1, and when I use Mission Control there is a massive CPU spike and performance is really bad. I saw WindowServer process jump up to ~175%, and it took a couple seconds for the Mission Control to appear.

I followed the recommendation from this thread for disabling animations:

That sort of worked. CPU usage only spikes up to ~70%, and Mission Control opens up faster, but there is still a noticeable delay.

Is there anything more that can be done? Can this be fixed in a future version of the driver?
