Default Lenovo ThinkPad W520 with NVIDIA Optimus and Lenovo USB 3.0 Dock

Is there any known method to get this particular combination of hardware to work, under Windows 8 64 bit (RTM version/Build 9200)?

Currently, I'm using the most stable NVIDIA driver set drivers (using driver upgrade, not using the full installer):
305.93-quadro-tesla-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql

but even back on this Lenovo Windows 8 beta driver release:

I cannot get the dock (USB 3.0 to DisplayLink adapter) to work any more. The software will install, including the latest 7.0 release:

and the service installs, but detection no longer functions. In other words, the Device Manager will show the USB Display devices with yellow exclamation marks, even when DVI-D monitors are attached and powered up.

On other laptops, the dock itself is proven to still work fine, even on Windows 8. And even this laptop worked, after the upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 (with DisplayPort already working before the upgrade, broke some time afterward). So it appears the issue is specific to the NVIDIA 1000M chipset in this W520 laptop when in Optimus mode.

Discreet Graphics mode are not an option (set in BIOS), as that hangs at boot, a known issue for a long time now:

And integrated (Intel) graphics don't allow DisplayPort dock to work either.

I've gone through the debugging guide, all seems well (service running, device identifier is as it should be, etc.).

I've attached the support files, just in case they help. Open to any and all advice, and/or workarounds, and I fully realize that not having supported (GA level) NVIDIA drivers from Lenovo makes this a tougher proposition to fix during the wait for Windows 8 RTM October 26th, but figured I'd ask anyway, to hopefully increase the odds of this getting addressed.

Let me know what else you need to know, thank you!
