Default 2 x 2560x1080 monitors

Hello all, I'm new here and looking for some advice:

I currently use one external monitor with my laptop - connected via HDMI with a resolution of 2560x1080.

I would like to add a second monitor @ 2560x1080 and expand my desktop across the two external monitors (my internal monitor will not be used).

My monitor does not have any other video outputs.

It seems to me I have multiple options for configuring this setup..

1. I continue to use the HDMI port on my laptop and add the second monitor via a displaylink USB adaptor.

2. I use two displaylink USB adaptors, one per monitor.

3. I use a displaylink dock that supports two video outputs - both will have to be digital as my monitors do not have VGA input.

So... What I'm looking for is the pros and cons of each option and products which are readily available to reach my goal bearing in mind the resolution required.

Thanks in advance!

Dan.
