Default Missing component Linux Headers

I have an Asus Flip C302 Chromebook currently running Beta channel and Crouton Ubuntu 16.04

I purchased a Dell D3100 docking station primarily to run dual monitors which works perfectly with the Chromebook.

No such luck with Ubuntu. The DisplayLink driver will not install, I get the following fatal error.

Unsatisfied dependencies. Missing component: Linux headers for running kernel, 3.18.0-13980-g7357b88

After some research I found a DisplayLink driver installer by AdnanHodzic

When running the installer created by Adnan I get the following:

E: Unable to locate package linux-headers-3.18.0-13980-g7357b88
E: Couldn't find any package by glob 'linux-headers-3.18.0-13980-g7357b88'
E: Couldn't find any package by regex 'linux-headers-3.18.0-13980-g7357b88'
linux-headers-3.18.0-13980-g7357b88 installation failed. Aborting.

I am a complete newb when it comes to linux but after some research am I correct in thinking that the linux-headers can not be found because linux is booting from crouton?

Could anyone please tell me if I am wasting my time trying to get the DisplayLink driver installed on the Crouton Ubuntu 16.04 setup or is there something I am missing??
