Default USB 3.0 Dual Monitor Support MBA (Mid-2012) running Parallels

A few days ago, I got a Mid-2012 MacBook Air with Parallels as a work computer from my employer. Right now, I have one 24" external monitor using a mini display port to DVI adapter, but I really want a second external monitor (and I don't want to daisy chain thunderbolt displays -- too expensive!)

If I purchase one of the Plugable USB 3.0 to VGA or DVI products, will I be able to hook up a second monitor using that? Will Parallels run reasonably smoothly in full screen on both monitors like it does with my laptop screen and single external monitor now? I basically only use word processing and web browsing in Parallels, along with a few work-specific applications that are fairly basic.

Finally, is there a specific one of the DisplayLink products that would work better than others (it would probably be an older 19" square monitor that I'd get from my work)?

Thanks!
