Renesas Update
Hi,
I have found a problem with the Renesas USB 3.0 controller as detected by the Debug Tool. However, when I visit the recommended link http://kb.displaylink.com/315 the resulting file to update the Renesas USB Controller does not appear to be working. http://www.station-drivers.com/page/renesas.htm. Can someone point me in the right direction where I can find the required update files please? Many thanks, KBL |

Hi,
Yes it appears that the station-drivers site is down. For the uPD720201-uPD720202: http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOT...er-30230.shtml For the uPD720200-uPD720200A: http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/Oth...er-21320.shtml Thanks, James |

Excellent James, many thanks.
I am away from home for a couple of days, but will check it out as soon as I get back. Although, that Softpedia is a minefield to navigate through. lol Last edited by KBL; 08-16-2013 at 08:16 PM. |

Ok, have managed to try out both of those update files and neither update the Renesas USB Controller Driver, it always stays the same.
Have attached a log to see if it sheds any light on the matter. KBL Last edited by KBL; 08-25-2013 at 02:25 PM. |

This is so annoying, everytime I do it, same result, even after uninstalling and removing all references from the registry.

Hi,
Just asked about this. It seems that with some versions of the driver an upgrade won't work. You'll need to remove the driver - from device manager ensuring that you check the "Delete the driver software for this device" box. Then install the newer driver and all should be well. Thanks, James |

Hi James,
I have tried that a few times, with the same result. I have noticed something that I think may be causing the problem though.... The driver that the new update is trying to replace is version 2.01.032 replaced with 2.1.36.0. However, I have noticed that the current driver installed is 2.0.32.0. I therefore assume that as the expected driver is not present it is not completely the correct update. I will now try to update 2.0.32.0 with 2.01.032 before trying the final update. Fingers crossed. KBL Well this is puzzling, I can't find any reference to 2.01.032 online really. Last edited by KBL; 08-20-2013 at 12:37 PM. |

Nope, I can't find v2.01.032 anywhere. Weird.
I have emailed Renesas Europe with a link to this thread. Fingers crossed. Last edited by KBL; 08-21-2013 at 12:43 PM. |

No reply from Renesas Europe yet, but I also contacted Sony, who have just replied..
Thank you for contacting Sony. We acknowledge that you would like to update your VAIO USB drivers but you cannot locate them. The only available USB driver edition for your VAIO can be downloaded from the link below: http://www.sony.ie/support/en/produc...1242-0042_6178 It is version 2.0.32.0, the other mentioned versions seems to be not available for this VAIO. So we would like to know if these are being installed by windows updates. Um, are they trying to tell me that the Renesas USB on my 1 year old Vaio can not handle any further updates to the USB 3.0 driver?? Last edited by KBL; 08-26-2013 at 02:29 PM. |

Ok, some progress has been made.
I have managed to update to v2.1.28.0 But get a strange error when trying to update to v2.1.36.0 See attached. Edit: Another step closer... v2.1.36.0 installed, but get device error when plugging in transmitter. I got the drivers here.. http://www.usb3-drivers.com/download...ws7-64bit.html I think I may have solved the detection problem as well. Because the USB transmitter for the WPCTVPRO does not fit into the USB port due to the shape of the Vaio, I am using an extension cable. I think that the cable would need to be a high speed one wouldn't it? Although, when I plug it into the USB 2.0 port it still is not detected, but have ordered a USB 3.0 cable and will test it.
