Dell E2311H won't configure as Wide Screen

I am using a USB Display Link adapter to add a Dell E2311H 23" Wide Screen monitor to my Dell Vostro PC setup running Windows7 Pofessional 64bit.

While the E2311H has a max. resolution of 1920 x 1080, the best I can get is 1280 x 1024. This gives me a stretched out display which is not satisfactory.

I would be happy with just 1280 x 800 but that option is not available.
I have updated the Display Link software to 6.3.38355.0 (DisplayLink Core Software).

I am looking for advice or a solution.

Are you sure you have a DisplayLink product that supports 1920x1080? I suspect the maximum resolution supported by the product is below 1920x1080.

Thanks Wim,
The packaging says the device will support up to 1600x1200. Including 1280x768.

I would be happy with 1280x768
