Initially, I was able to create a third display on my Acer S232HL using a Kensington M01063 Universal Multi-Display Adapter and HDMI. It should be noted that this configuration was never 100% reliable. Sometimes, I had to unplug the USB adapter and plug it back in to get things working properly.

Recently, the third display stopped working completely. Sometimes I get vertical lines, but not always. I no longer get a proper display.

Using the tips in these forums, I have collected the following information about my configuration:

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Kensington M01063 Universal Multi-Display Adapter - version 5.2
Hardware ID: USB\VID_17E9&PID_0036 - not 8060 so I believe it booted properly
Kensington Display Adapter - version 6.1.35912.0
DisplayLink Core Software - version 7.0.41409.0
DisplayLink Graphics version 7.0.41409.0
DisplayLinkManager is running and starts automatically
DisplayFusion 4.1
I thought it could be a problem with the DisplayFusion multi-monitor software, but the problem occurs whether or not DisplayFusion is running. Microsoft IntelliPoint 8.2
I use a Microsoft Wireless 5000 USB mouse - perhaps there is some sort of USB conflict?
My second display is a Planar PX 2710MW connected via a VGA cable

Any ideas?

If you were getting vertical lines, then it sounds like the video output was dying. It's possible it has now given up completely.

Does the OS still think there is a screen extending you can drag Windows to? If so, then I think the problem is hardware, rather than a driver issue.

Yes, the OS still thinks there is a screen. I can actually drag windows there (and lose them if I drop them).

When I move the mouse in that screen, the vertical lines change colors.

Is your recommendation to contact Kensington about a faulty converter?
