Hello,

I need help as I'm having trouble trying to use the Targus USB 3.0 dock with some Dell XPS 13 ultrabooks (Both model varients L321X and L322X). The problems are intermittent and not affecting all Dell XPS 13 models, but the issue is related to the Targus dock not detecting the monitors and not launching the display link software to output via the DVI or Display port connections.

On some Win 7 x64 machines this works fine and flawlessly, on others it only picks up the USB and ethernet connections through the dock, has anybodyelse experienced this? The software has initially worked in most cases and then just breaks without word or warning?

I've updated the to the latest USB 3.0 drivers provided by Dell for both models of the laptop as well as un-installing and reinstalling the latest version of the Display link software.

Anybody else suffered this?

From a frustrated IT Support Engineer

"latest USB 3.0 drivers provided by Dell"

These are probably not the latest versions released by the chipset manufacturer, and I expect could be the root of the frustrations you are having.

Check if they are really the latest here:

If you still have issues, please post the logs from one of the systems.

Hi

I've updated drivers, uninstalled, installed, plugged in, unplugged and still cannot get an external monitor to work

I've been looking into this further and I have a number of Targus docks that I've been testing with.

I've updated to the latest display link software as well as installing the latest Fresco Logic USB 3.0 drivers on the XPS 13, and it works in some docks and not others, this is the same across multiple XPS 13's.

I am now going back to Targus with warranty claims as I have 3 faulty USB 3.0 docks not working.
