Hi, I am completely new on this forum, and I am writing in desperation. I have a set-up with a lap top running 5 screens, 1 through an external monitor via a standard VGA output, and 3 WS-TECH USB-VGAs and 1 UNITEK USB-HDMI. They all want to run DisplayLink software/drivers. I used these four USB adapters on my XP lap top previously, and it worked without any problems. Since I had to scrap that PC due to other problems I tried using the adapters first on a Vista Home Premium 32 stationary PC, but whenever I tried to plug in an adapter and the drivers where downloaded the system would crash (blue screen). I then tried using a lap-top, also Vista Home Premium 32, with the same results. The system has now gone through probably 50 cycles of blue screen, system restore, plugging in adapters, crashing, system restore or system restore, installing DisplayLink software, then plugging in, and it seems to make no difference, the same result, crash and blue screen. Also, it seems to make no difference whether I use the HDMI or VGA adapters, still crashing every single time. I tried connecting the adapters to a Windows 7 PC, and that worked fine, so I am guessing it is a Vista issue?
Can anyone please tell me: 1. which driver I should use, and 2. whether I should install software first, then plug in adapters or the other way around? The greater the detail of the explanation the better :-)
I am not very good with PCs, so please keep it simple for me?
Thank you!
Christopher
