Asus Varidrive with Surface Pro wrong resolution

I have a Surface Pro running Windows 8 Pro connected to the Asus Varidrive. USB, Ethernet, and HDMI work fine, but when I connect via VGA, the max resolution is 1440 x 900 when the native resolution of my monitor is 1920 x 1080.

I can achieve full resolution when using the normal video out port on the Surface Pro.

Any advice on solving this problem?
