hi..

i have a problem with my displaylink adapter.

my computer is an i7 930 with windows 7 x64 sp1
i use a lot of graphics and 3d software.

the problem is that some software didn't like the displaylink drivers.

this is a list of software that can't open their screen when the displaylink drivers is installed (no problem when i uninstalled the displaylink driver)

- Daz3d carrara 8.5 pro x64
- all Deskartes professional software (3Data Expert x32 or x64 version, 3D Dimension expert...) even the last 10.1 version refuse to open their screen if the driver is installed

i know that the softwares are running because i can see the process running
and the network license server of deskartes software 'see' the communication port of their softwares

i update the drivers in the last version DisplayLink_7.3M1 and my windows is up to date on all drivers...

my graphic card is an ATI radeon HD 5770 with the last driver (i tested even beta drivers like the 13.15.100.1-130716a-159704E-ATI )

it's very annoying.. can you help me ?
thanks

Hi,

I need the debug logs to investigate this - details are on this page
http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=269

When the issue occurs is there any error message? Do you see the application window when you run the program?

Thanks,
James

thanks for your answer
i joined the adavanced logs to this message

to answer your question :

When the issue occurs is there any error message?
no, there is no error message when the problem occurs

Do you see the application window when you run the program?
no. i can see the application process in the process manager window, so i know the software is running but it's like the windows become 'invisible' when the displaylink drivers are installed. i need to kill the process thru process manager to stop the software. (i have no problem when i uninstalled the displaylink driver).

Hi,

Thanks for the information.

Do you get the same issue if you switch to Aero mode?

Thanks,
James

yep .. same problem with aero

but i found something strange :

when i check the version of the USB adapter under USb display adapter in the peripherals management, it's version 7.2.46733.0

but the displaylink support tool said that the installed version is :

DisplayLink Version: 7.3.49122.0
BUT when i click on 'check compatibility', it say 'graphic drivers date'
and i installed the last version 7.3M1.

edit : i made a forces 'windows update' and it update the displaylink driver (USB adapter) to version 7.2.47873.0
why the driver 7.3M1 from the site didn't update the usb driver to 7.3.49122.0 ?

i uninstalled end re installed the drivers a numerous time and each time i found the same versions (driver installed 'as administrator' or not)

edit2 : can i have the corporate driver ? i can try to update the driver manually ?

Hi,

Thanks for the info.

The USB driver rarely gets updated so the versions won't match the versions you'll see in Control Panel.

Thanks,
James

I've just tried this with V7.4 M2 software and 3Data Expert runs just fine and can be used. Is this still a problem for you with the latest software?

sorry for the late answer..
but for me with the 7.4 M2 drivers, with 3DATA expert 10.1, it's the same than with the older driver..

i can see the process ( Dartes.exe) but no window open...
