I set the Windows power option for closing the lid to "do nothing", so my laptop does not go to sleep when I close the lid and use the external monitor and keyboard connected via DisplayLink.
The problem I am having is that in that configuration the laptop *never* goes to sleep, even after the period of inactivity specified in the Windows power plan.
If I want to use my laptop like a desktop with lid closed, evidently I also want it to go to sleep when it is not used for a while, but instead it remains active all the time. To allow it to go to sleep after a period of inactivity, I have to open the lid and leave it open until it goes to sleep.
Is this part of Windows built-in behavior, or is it something that could be adjusted?
(I am using a Taichi21 running Windows 8 - I had to uninstall ASUS Close Lid in order to prevent the laptop from going to sleep when closing the lid).
