Hi there,

I recently purchased an ASUS Varidrive and am trying to set it up on a ASUS UX32V Zenbook. USB is fine, VGA is fine, etc, however the LAN port refuses to work, and reports the following error in device manager:

"The Device Cannot Start. (Code 10)

The USB device returned an invalid USB BOS descriptor."

I cannot get this to work on any computer I have tried (up to 3 now). I have only tested on USB3 as that is the only connection I have on the Zenbook. I have attempted to update the following:

-Motherboard drivers including Chipset and USB3
-ASIX AX88179 drivers (what was on the "CD" on the drive)
-Completely uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers numerous times
-Tried in different port, different computer, tried different USB3 cable

Please can anyone give me any suggestions on how to fix this, or what I should do from here?

I'm having the same problem with the Surface Pro 2...I am guessing something's not right and I should return the device.

Hi,

This seems to be specific to the ASIX ethernet in the Varidrive.

I'd recommend returning for a replacement.

Thanks,
James
