I have a Dell Venue 8 Pro, and had originally tried a MCT (Magic Control Technology) product on it (which sucked). I've since purchased a DisplayLink product.

The MCT uninstaller didn't work right, and I had to manually uninstall just about everything related to the MCT software (drivers, programs, startup scripts, services, etc...). Despite all of the MCT software and drivers being removed, the DisplayLink 7.5 Driver installer still claims there is MCT software present on my system, and won't continue its own installation.

Is there a list of things the DisplayLink 7.5 installer checks with regard to MCT software I could use to make sure any traces of the MCT software that prevent DisplayLink 7.5 from being installed have been removed?

Thanks!

Paul

Sorry to revive this old thread (came up in a Google search), but the items in that knowledge base do not work. I followed the steps in that knowledge base article, and went much further beyond. I downloaded 3rd party uninstalling software and tried uninstalling, I manually checked my registry for anything MCT, I ran DisplayLink's compatibility checker and manually deleted the System32/Drivers file it found for the MCT adapter, I checked to make sure all services were deleted, and so on and so forth, all to no avail.

Where is the setup software for the 7.5 drivers checking that it sees an MCT product still installed?

Hi,

Try deleting these files (if they still exist):

C:\Windows\system32\drivers\MctFlt.sys
And anything named "GManager" from C:\Windows\system32\drivers\

Thanks,
James
