Hooked up Startech USB30DOCKHD docking station to "HP ENVY 17t-j100 Leap Motion QE CTO Notebook PC Drivers". All worked fine (laptop monitor and two HP Monitors and Wired LAN).

I left my laptop unattended for two hours. When I returned the dual monitors stopped working.

I spent over 6 hours on Displaylink support website and forum. Did all steps suggested in the support site and forum. Still DisplayLink UI will not come on.

FYI: I connected the wireless mouse to the docking station. It worked. However, wired LAN did not work.

Additional information:

OS = Windows 8.1 64bit (came with the laptop)

DisplayLink Core Software version 7.5.52874.0

DisplayLink Graphics version 7.5.52889.0

I liked the product when it worked. I love to have it working again. Any help is much appreciated.

Hi James -

Thanks for your reply. The displaylink does not show up in Device Manager. However, I see "Generic Superspeed USB"? Should I update this device when the direction that you provided.

Thanks,
Jay

Hi,

Do you see an entry named "USB Display Adapters"?
If you do please right click on the entry under it and follow the steps I mentioned previously.

If you don't please follow these steps:

For the Generic SuperSpeed USB Hub you mention, please right click on it and follow these steps:

1. Select “Properties”
2. Select “Details”
3. Change “Property” to “Hardware Ids”
- Let me know what the Value is

Thanks,
James

I have similar problems with my dock (Targus USB3 Dual Video) and my Surface Pro 2. It works most of the time, but now and then it stops to work. For me it starts to work again if I unplug the power to the dock, wait for 20s or so and then plug the power to the dock back in again (the dock remains connnected to the Surface Pro the whole time). After a little while the DisplayLink driver kicks in and my external display connected to the dock is back in action and USB + phisical network connected to the dock work again.

Maybe this is something that can help you out as well?

Thanks for sharing your experience, Erik

Leaving the monitor and docking station connected or an extended period did not help either.

The displaylink driver does not show up in my device manager.

Have you tried connecting with a USB 2.0 cable?

It sounds a lot like a HW failure I'm afraid, and you should ask your supplier for a replacement.
