I have just upgraded my machine to Windows 8.1. At the time of installation 7.4 was available so I installed it, but it didn't work. However this was I decided due to the GPU driver not being there. After some trouble I have installed a driver that seems to work (albeit it is a Windows7 driver). So now I think everything is in place. However I couldn't see detect screens and on searching found a later version of DisplayLink - 7.5 - so I downloaded that.

7.5 wouldn't load
so I tried to unistall 7.4, I get a 2705 error. I doesn't find the original install package - although why it should look for it is beyond me , and not good practise - and I can't direct it to the install package. Trying to reinstall 7.4 it tells me it is up to date.

What can I do?

Found the cleaner, ran this which seems to remove all traces of DisplayLink.
Rebooted
Downloaded fresh copy of 7.5
Installed

All Good
