View Full Version : Monitor issues every time I boot (Win 8.1)

A lot of the time I come under some real stress trying to get the USB dock to work with my monitors. It would usually work with the mouse and keyboard just fine but the monitors won't connect.
In order for it to work I do the following:
Disconnect and Reconnect (via plug socket and USB) x 15 times
Uninstall driver
Reinstall driver (often the latest download from the website)
Disconnect and Reconnect another 15 times
Restart
Disconnect and reconnect another few times
At this point, I will get a message telling me that DisplayLink is running through the configuration for the first time and then the monitors will suddenly turn on at which point I discover that I now have to configure the positioning and set the primary monitor through the screen settings.
I can spend a good half an hour every morning trying to get this thing to work and I so I think it is about time I make my mark here.
Please tell me there is a fix to this largely annoying process!

Hi James,
When to click on "System Compatibility Check" and was told that the device was not connected via USB. It is and the USB port is working fine. I must mention again that the mouse and keyboard is working great through the device - just not the monitors.
I've attached the logs with this post.
Thanks.

I too have exactly the same problem. Couldn't describe it better. I also have a Dell XPS series laptop. Log file attached.

Any chance of some feedback on progress, please DisplayLink?

Hi,
This sounds like a hardware issue.
I'll try and get a contact to progress this.
Thanks,
James

Hi James,
I've had the hardware replaced several times. We have ordered some new hardware from a different manufacturer now. I'm hoping this will resolve the issue.
I really thought Dell would produce some quality stuff here, but I guess they proved me wrong. We have 5 of these same docks running and none of them are working particularly great and 3 of them have replaced twice.
The new ones we have ordered also run on the DisplayLink drivers. They cost a bit more, so hopefully we will get some quality docks here. Who knows.
