Hi,

Just after getting the ASUS MB168B+ USB Monitor to use with my Lenovo ThinkPad Helix (Windows 8.1).

The native resolution of this monitor is 1920x1080 and although after installation of latest DisplayLink software and Windows detects this resolution. When you drag a window across to this monitor, it’s clear to see that the resolution is much lower.

When I boot up a Virtual Machines in full screen mode on this monitor, it confirms the above, by having a resolution of 1600x900.

Has anyone else experienced this, or knows of a fix?

Thanks
Gary

Hi,

I haven't seen this on other notebooks but I will try on the Helix.

Can you attach the output from this tool in the meantime?

Thanks for your reply.

Results from the System Compatibility Check:
Pass: Basic mode support
Pass: Device attached
Pass: Device started correctly
Pass: Graphics driver date
Pass: WEI is above recommended 3
Pass: No Other USB graphics software installed

I've attached the Zip file generated from Gather Support Information.

The above outputs were taken straight after connecting ASUS Display after system start-up.

I've also attached a PrintScreen (desktop2.zip) of my Desktop that helps explain what I'm experiencing. Shows multiple instances of the same programs split across the 2 screens that supposable have the same resolution.

My built in display is set at its native resolution of 1920x1080, Windows also detects/sets the ASUS MB168B+ to its native resolution of 1920x1080.
At first glance it appears as if everything is ok, but as soon as you move a window or even the mouse pointer across to the MB168B+, you notice that the resolution is much lower.

I have the same problem. Purchased the MB168B+ today, followed the instructions and the native resolution looks wrong.

I'm on an HP EliteBook 8470p within Windows 8.1 Enterprise x64.

It's the same whether I'm docked (with 2x 24" ViewSonic 1920x1080 monitors) or just the laptop, the resolution looks fine until you drag a screen onto it then it 'zoons' the window. The taskbar and Windows 'metro' screen are in the right resolution, just the active applications on the Asus.

Help!!

I've tested this on a colleague's identical machine that has Windows 7 Enterprise x64 installed and it was fine! I installed the same (latest) version of the DisplayLink drivers and it was fine. So for me it's a Windows 8.1 (think I've seen another thread saying Windows 8 is fine) driver issue.

DisplayLink Support tool output:
Pass: Basic mode support
Pass: Device attached
Pass: Device started correctly
Pass: Graphics driver date
Pass: WEI is above recommended 3
Pass: No Other USB graphics software installed

I've attached my support information output too incase it helps.

I've contacted Asus support as well on this but heard nothing from them.

Hi,

This sounds like Windows 8.1 scaling.

I don't have a Windows 8.1 system to hand but I think that either disabling or enabling "Let me choose one scaling level for all my displays" (as shown in the attachment) should fix this.

Let me know how you get on.

Thanks,
James

James, you're a genius! Changed the settings for the monitor and no more scaling, happy days! Thank you James.
