"Your computer is low on memory" message when waking monitor

When waking monitor from sleep mode I am now receiving this message from windows, along with a system lockup. System is a Dell laptop with Windows 8.1, 16gb RAM, displaylink software v 7.5 M0.

Does this happen if DisplayLink software is not installed?

No, I have not uninstalled, but the issue does not occur when the dock is not connected.
