Hi !

I have win7 64 Bit and the Fujitsu PR08 (which is a DL3900 Chip) worked very well the last time. Today I got an driver update from Windows Update. I installed it and after that the device stopped working.
I tried to install the original 7.5M2 driver but canīt get my device back to a working state.
The Device Manager tells me "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)" for the PR08 DisplayPort Dock.

I tried to reinstall the driver and used the EndUserCleaner to clean up my system. Nothing helped right now.

Can anyone tell me what to do now?

Dominik

Update : I attached the Debug Logs for further analysis.

Hi James,

this will not work. I donīt have a ethernet device available.
The only device i can see (with a yellow warning sign) is PR08 DisplayPort Dock.

See my screenshot ...

Hi,

Sorry - I must have ethernet on the brain!

Does trying the above steps on the PR08 DisplayPort Dock in device manager get you anywhere?

I'll get this escalated internally.

Thanks,
James

Hi,

I've raised this internally for investigation.

However in case there is an issue with the installer files that are local to your system please try these steps:

1. Reboot your system

2.
Right click on PR08 in device manager
Select Driver
Select Update Driver
Select Search automatically for updated driver software

Thanks,
James

Hi,

got the same problem after update via Microsoft-Update-Service. Driver for the device not found (Code 28). Tried to uninstall the new driver and reinstalled the original (version 5.5 something), which previously worked, but with no success. Added the output of the debug-tool.
Just to check that the device isn't broken, i installed the original driver on a fresh Windows7x64 (VM): that worked. But i would like to have the device back working on the real PC. The newest driver 7.6M0 doesn't fix the issue either.

Partially,
Installed the latest DisplayLink driver, at first sight with no success, but then did the following:
1. go into device manager, selected the faulty device and choose update driver software.
2. search driver software on local pc
3. use select from driver list installed on ...
4. remove the check mark from show compatible hardware
5. find the usb display driver list
6. select from displaylink drivers the one, that matches the hex-code hardware id
7. installed that driver
After that, atleast the video worked as usual, audio didn't. But probably you'll have more luck. For me this issue is of no more interest, because I set up a completely new machine, which has a 4 channel graphic card. One channel over hdmi. Thus I don't need the extra external usb->hdmi device any more.

How do I find the hex-code hardware ID of my device?

For others also wondering where to find the hardware-id:
Speaking the truth, it doesn't realy matter which driver in the very long list of DisplayLink driver you select, because effectively they all map to the same binaries. If you didn't un-install old drivers before installing the latest, or updated via microsoft online update, simply select the last one (the one with the highest number), which most certainly will map to the latest driver version installed.
If you want to explicitely select the one, matching the hex-code hardware id:
Open the properties of the faulty device and look at the details pages. In the combo-box select 'Hardware-Id'.

My dual channel StarTech used to work just fine.
I have three older DisplayLink adapters at home that still work.
This is the second DisplayLink device I have tried to plug into this computer in a month that has utterly failed.
I'm pretty sure something is wrong with my computer, but I'll be darned if I can figure it out.

When I pull up the properties for the StarTech, it says "The drivers for this device are not installed (Code 28).
I've tried the earlier instructions in this thread to no avail.
If I need to send log files, how do I gather them?
I LOVE DisplayLink products and recommend them to all my geek friends, but I am at my wits end with this problem.
I'm on the verge of a complete reinstall of Windows 7, which I'd like to avoid.

PLEASE HELP!

Hi,

Please attach the output of this tool:
http://www.displaylink.com/support/ticket.php?id=269
Once downloaded, please run it and select "Gather Support Information"

When you reply please select "Manage Attachments" from the "Additional Options" section below.

From there select Upload and navigate to the output of the tool which will be in a folder called "DisplayLink Support Files" on your desktop.

Thanks,
James

Spot on thanks, this worked for me. I had exactly the same issue after a driver upgrade.
