The aforementioned monitor does not work with my new Win 8.1 laptop, despite installing/uninstalling/reinstalling drivers.
Support tool file attached.
Please advise, and thank you.
It looks like there are communication problems with the monitor, preventing our software updating the DisplayLink firmware to a version that will work with v7.6.
This could be a hardware problem, but we're trying to reproduce internally first to see if there is a problem updating from the older version of firmware in your monitor.

Hi Wim,
What have you learned since your last message? I must decide ASAP if I'll need to return this monitor as I require it for my work, but I'd like to have exhausted all options.
Thank you.
Renee
I would guess it is a hardware problem, otherwise there would be more similar reports. I would return the monitor for a replacement.

I think we have discovered what the problem is. The older firmware in the display has problems with Intel Haswell (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haswell_(microarchitecture)) platforms on USB 3.0. This firmware was created before Haswell platforms were available. This was fixed a while ago, and once the firmware is updated, the panel should work correctly on Intel Haswell platforms.
To get the firmware to update, it should be connected to a non Intel Haswell Windows PC, or connected using USB 2.0 (a USB 2.0 cable or through a USB hub). The display should then connect and the firmware updates. Once the firmware is updated, you can connect it back on USB 3.0 on Haswell and it should work correctly.

Hi,
To update the firmware on your USB monitor you'll need to either:
Install the latest DisplayLink software on another (non-Haswell) PC and then connect your USB monitor to that.
Or
Connect your USB monitor to your Haswell PC via a USB 2.0 cable
After doing either one of these your USB monitor firmware will be upgraded and you will be able to connect to your USB monitor to your PC over USB 3.0.
Thanks,
James
