Creating this thread for the purpose of discussing the latest DL drivers for Mac (2.5 beta 3).
2012 11" MacBook Air
Anker USB 3.0 DisplayLink dock (HP W2072a)
Mini-DisplayPort to DVI connector used for other display.
So far, so good.

When both displays are connected to the dock, the 1080p monitor will not light up when any resolution over 1440x900 is selected.

Thanks for this thread - it would be nice if someone from DL would tell us a new driver was out and if it fixed any of the critical issues we reported

Yes alphadog apologies, we only contacted directly a few people that reported issues.
The beta 3 fixes a number of device and screen recognition issues on El Capitan.
We'd definitely recommend everyone to upgrade.
Very interested in what you think about it!
Best regards,
Carlo

Hi Paul,
This is something we can certainly help with. Can you please send us the debug logs following the instructions in http://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/755301-how-to-report-mac-os-x-issues-to-displaylink

No problem.
I installed it, hooked up the dynadock and all works as expected. Will report any issues.

Cannot replicate the issue now. Yesterday it was definitely stuck, today it works pretty phenomenally. Throwing what I can at it to see if there are any other issues. Thanks for the support, folks.

Things seem far more stable with this beta so far. I can leave the DL dock connected overnight and come back in the morning without fear of having an unresponsive computer.
Wake from sleep also seems to work as expected.
Performance is certainly better, but still stutters at times. I'm not sure what the expectation for performance is, but it feels like it is just a little behind what I have come to expect from Windows-based workstations with DisplayLink docks.
That being said, I feel far more confident in recommending DisplayLink products with these recent changes. My experience may be different from other people's but I really do appreciate the hard work you have put in to getting this product working more smoothly.
Good job guys.

Testing on 2.5b3 + OS X 10.11.2 beta5 (15C48a)
iTunes (12.3.1.23) still crashes WindowServer and forces a logout if I try to minimize the window. That one is a real doozy, because it always makes me lose work.
Is it fixable??

Hi luckman,
We don't think we can fix this but we'll continue to look for workarounds.
Apple can certainly fix this defect and they have fixed in El Capitan a similar issue triggered by Mission Control so there is hope.
As for all the other bugs in this class of WindowServer crashes we recommend to open a bug at bugreporter.apple.com to increase the priority of the issue.
You can refer to our own bug for this problem, ID 23182216

Thanks Carlo. I have just done that. My bug ID is 23759487 in case you want to cross-link back to it as well. Please everyone, open a bug on this so it can be fixed! It has been a problem since Yosemite first came out which is a long time now.

Same here. I filed Bug ID 23760615. iTunes crashes on minimize infrequently if its window is on main screen (iMac), crashes every time if iTunes window is even partially displayed on secondary window.

Because it’s almost Christmas I just want to share my experience here. I am using a Lenovo dock wit 2 displays connected + Ethernet + USB disk. And I must say for me everything is fine at the moment (OK I do not use iTunes at all). Chrome, MS Office, Mail, Atom editor Virtual Box ... no problems. I also disconnect and reconnect the dock every day and even this is good.
Thank You for the good work !! :)

I have two monitors that are the same. The one connected using mini displayport to dvi adapter have 1200x1920 resolution, but the one connected through the usb display link only has 1200x1600. Both are using dvi-d cables

Hi Paul,
I think we finally understand this issue happening to a few people with reduced blanking resolutions over DVI.
I think you are seeing a problem introduced in version 2.4. To double check you may try version 2.3 if it's compatible with your OS.
It's now too late to fix the issue in 2.5 but a fix will be in the next patch release.

Carlo

Thank you very much carlo for the reply. Unfortunately 2.3 is not compatible with my OS (I have 10.11 EL Capitan).
Do you know when will the next patch release be shipped? Just wondering about a rough estimation, not looking for an exact date or any guaranteed answer.
Thanks!

I frequently get double cursors on the usb linked monitors. The mouse cursor returns to normal if I move the mouse to my Laptop monitor or a DVI monitor and back.

This thread should probably be closed... 2.5 was released a few days ago so go download it and come back if there are new bugs to report

I just sent in a bug report on Beta 3 - do we know if the 2.5 release fixed anything after Beta 3?

My itunes works fine (12.3.2.35) works fine with 2.5 and el cap 10.11.2. Macbook pro 2010 connected to 2x 1080p monitors (displayport vs BVU165 DL device)
Tried minimizing on the laptop display, the displayport, and displaylink display - all works fine

I have the 2.5 driver and OS X El Capitan. When the screen saver comes on it will cause one of the screens to die and respawn. This makes it so that when I come back the windows are on different monitors and sometimes the monitor resolution has changed.
Also sometimes when I am using the Mac the monitor will drop out and come back rearranging the displays also.
Is there a link for the 2.5 beta 3 software, does it resolve this issue, or are there any suggestions for resolving this issue?

Hi deamon,
Which screensaver are you using? I can try to reproduce the issue.
The best thing is to open a ticket at http://support.displaylink.com including the debug logs.
